Bonachords: Guys who like to sing

Bonachords 2015

The Bonachords Began in 1966 as the “Kiwanis Choir”. They performed very creditably in the Peterborough Kiwanis Music Festival that year. Although initially the choir was entirely composed of Kiwanians, and the Kiwanis club provided the financial assistance to meet the operating expenses, the membership was opened up in 1968 to any man in the Peterborough community who enjoyed singing. In 1969 the chorus received its present name “Bonachord”, after “Bon Accord”, the motto of the City of Aberdeen, Scotland, home of many award-winning Scottish male choirs.

Every year since its formation the chorus has competed in the Peterborough Kiwanis Music Festival, as well as entertaining at nursing homes and other community venues. For many years the men have joined with Peterborough’s Jubilaires Ladies Chorus in presenting a popular Spring Concert and more recently a Christmas Concert. Welcome all new members! I hope you enjoy singing with us and becoming ONE of us.
